A beginner guide to Beasts

Note:

Some info in this guide may be quite inaccurate due to lack of information. Just let me know if anything is wrong, and i will try to correct the guide appropriately.

If you have a luck and you get some cards that didn't mentioned here, please give me a confirmation screenie and i will add the card to guide.

In this guide i will try to review all Beasts units and some gameplay possibilities as well. Beasts is a very underrated race with some unique possibilities that affect players hand. Again, we consider only Beast units that can be obtained for free. I will add info about Incarnates and AH/Event/Bonanza units in separate topic.

Synthesis units require a lot of tests before i get enough info, and they will be in separate guide as well.

Advantages:

Can affect player hand

Good Vigilance units

Good possibilities to block the line entirely

Awesome possibilities for heavy-Skill decks

Good stats on Legendary and Godlike rarities

A good late-game Synthesis options

Disadvantages:

Mediocre stats on epic and below rarity

Low hp on lower cd units

Vampire units require support to work properly

Chaos Bolt can be unreliable

Hounds:

Hunting Dog(4*, 1/2/6, Sprint, Counterattack)

On Epic, hp is too low to benefit from counterattack. However, Godlike version has 11hp, which is pretty good for 1cd rusher. Overall, not good on Epic, but due to availability in Reputation Shop this unit is much easier to enchance to better rarities.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 1* in reputation shop on level 7.

Hound(4*, 2/2/9, Sprint, Counterattack)

Much better than above unit, capable to hold a couple of low attack units. Probably the best rushing Hound on Epic rarity, makes even better on higher rarities. Also can be reliably enchanced to higher rarities due to availability in shop. Overall a good rusher and can be used tactically to hold some non-armoured enemies with low attack.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 2* in reputation shop on level 14.

Fiery Hound(4*, 3/2/7, Sprint, Counterattack, Rage 1)

Again, Epic version doesnt worth using due to low hp, but Legendary is actually a pretty good with some support.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 5* Card Collection milestone reward for 75%.

Hell Hound(4*, 3/4/6, Ember)

A very good mage counterpart actually! Even Epic is okay to use, but again, +4hp on Legendary worth considering. Pretty high damage in comparison to other magical attackers. A good unit to use, but as all ranged units require some tank in front for better survivability.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack.

Cerberus(4*, 4/2/8, Cone of Fire)

Actually, a bad pick, because Cerberus can use his attack only when he involved in melee on line where he is placed, occasionally hit units in other lanes by his wide attack, but he will not target units on other lanes if there is no units on his own lane. Also to benefit from his breath he required to be placed in middle lane, where units with Vigilance is overall a much better choice. Low hp and damage as for melee-range unit is just not worth it even on higher rarities with more hp. Overall, not good.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack.

Fiery Cerberus(4*, 4/2/6, Cone of Fire, Vigilance)

Again, low hp on Epic, though still a good defender due to Vigilance. When placed in middle, can cover a lot of space by his fire. Also, one of the very few non-Physical Vigilance units, making him especially good versus armoured targets. Overall, good even on epic, but Legendary is better choice and fairly easy to obtain with high-level Alchemy lab via Reputation shop. Can be very devastating with proper Hero Skills.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 3* in reputation shop on level 21.

Cerberus Hegemon(4*, 6/2/12, Cone of Fire, Vigilance, Counterattack)

A very underrated unit. With some tactical use can bring a lot of damage on his own. A bit high cd as for defender unit, but thats a really good defender that hard to remove, though require a Support from hero to really shine.

Can be found in: A very rare drop from Dark Forest dungeon.

Big Shuck(5*,2/1/12, Strike Again, Sprint, Dominating)

Another very underrated unit. Can be used in many differrent ways depending on situation. A very high stats for such cd. Dominating for sure improves his damage a lot when trigerred, but pretty much good even without it as a blocker or early rusher. Great card.

Can be found in:
Obtainable in Soul Summoner as 5*-6*(locked version)

Lizards:

Lizard(4*, 1/1/9, Lumbering, Armour 2)

Despite being slow to move, its just incredibly durable walking wall due to Armour. Good unit for defence from physical type damage.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack.

Armoured Lizard(4*, 2/1/7, Lumbering, Knock Back 2, Armour 3)

Thats the best 1.0 2cd armoured unit in game. Less cd and better armour, comparable to similar Human Units of same rarity, make this lizard a very good unit to block line for a long time if opponent has no good mages in deck. Knockback helps to push the line as well. Overall, great unit to have and use. Also very useful in early PvP.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 2* in reputation shop on level 14.

Aegis Lizard(4*, 5/2/13, Lumbering, Knock Back 2, Armour 3)

Also good unit, but high cd makes him much less impressive than above unit.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack.

Thunder Lizard(4*, 2/1/9, Lightning Breath, Lumbering, Armour 2)

Another solid pick. Magic damage makes this lizard better damage-wise if played against other Armour creatures, and Stun helps to disable attacker for a turn. This is probably the best lightning lizard.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 1* in reputation shop on level 7.

Senior Thunder Lizard(4*, 4/2/10 Lightning Breath, Lumbering, Armour 3)

I feel this unit is a better option than Aegis Lizard because of a more playable cd and magic damage, but overall they almost equally good.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 4* Card Collection milestone reward for 30%.

Sawtooth Thunder Lizard(4*, 6/2/14, Lightning Breath, Lumbering, Armour 3)

6cd is a massive, so better pick a lizard with less cd, however, if played, this lizard will be hard to kill. Playable, but less good than other lizards due to high cd.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 3* in reputation shop on level 21.

Chief Ironhide(4*, 6/1/10, Lumbering, Armour 4, Attack 1:Beasts)

Not essential, but great unit to have in Beast-themed deck. Even on Epic he is extremely durable due to armor, making him very hard to kill. And impact of his buff will be noticeable and last for long. But just try to avoid magic damage, and he will staying on the battlefield for a very long time. Great to have and fun to use in Beast decks.

Can be found in: Obtainable in Soul Summoner as 4*-6*(locked version). Also available as 4* in reputation shop on level 28 and 5* as a reward for achieving 45lvl of Beast Reputation.

Storm Lizard King(5*, 5/1/14, Cone of Lightning, Lumbering, Armour 4)

Very underrated and rarely seen, however its a great walking wall and unit disabler due to high chance to stun. Better to place him in the middle row, to maximize the benefit from his Cone of Lightning. Awesome unit to have!

Can be found in: A very rare drop from Dark Forest dungeon.

Bats:

Bat(4*,1/2/7, Flying, Vampirism)

A decent unit on Epic. For sure Vampirism is good because unit heal itself while dealing damage, however many units with Vampirism has a low damage, so it works a lot better if buffed by hero or Chieftain Ironhide. as all Beasts, much more usable on Legendary and better.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 3* Card Collection milestone reward for 15%.

Bloodthirsty Bat(4*,2/2/5, Flying, Vampirism)

Not good, just too low hp to benefit from Vampirism and 1 extra damage doesnt help much. Epic doesnt worth to use even considering damage buff, because a Longbow archer can easily kill this bat in single turn while above bat will have a chance to survive because of extra hp, but on Godlike has much better stats because of more than twice better hp, making this unit actually pretty good.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 2* in reputation shop on level 14.

Scarlet Bat(4*,4/2/13, Flying, Vampirism, Bleeding Attack)

Actually good unit even on epic, but will really shine with some support from hero. With enough high damage this bat will be hard to kill, especially versus heavy hp targets while also disables them from healing. However, less effective versus bunch of archers, because they usually have very low hp, but high damage.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 3* in reputation shop on level 21.

Venomous Bat(4*, 1/1/5, Flying, Toxic Blade 2)

A unit for one purpose, to damage someone, making poison trigger, and die after that. Potentially this little creep capable to deal a whooping 10 damage to opponent via poison over time even after its own death, so actually not a bad pick, but unfortunately, useless versus even 1 Armour. Overall good, but too situational unit.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 1* in reputation shop on level 7.

Septic Bat(4*, 3/2/8, Flying, Toxic Blade 2)

Better damage and hp mean that this bat is capable to poison a couple units befor its own death, but little improvement from above unit. Still vulnerable to 2 and more armour. Overall better versus bunch of low-damage units without armor, otherwise pretty much the same. Again, good, but very situational unit.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack.

Spiteful Bat(4*, 5/3/10, Flying, Toxic Blade 2)

A high cd, but can be a very good killer, especially with Chief Sharptooth buff or with support from hero. Legendary Kills even faster, but Epic also playable. Good unit, but require support.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack.

Virulent Bat King(4*, 4/2/8, Flying, Bleeding Attack, Decay)

Epic version is not that good as Godlike, but playable with some support. A very efficient killer of low-hp units. Overall, decent, but playable on Epic, solid on Godlike, if some support provided.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Beast Standard pack. Also available as 4* in reputation shop on level 35. 4* is a Card Collection milestone reward for 50%.

Lord Fleder(5*, 4/1/13, Flying, Vampirism, Battle Spirit 1)

Another very underrated unit. Probably, the best Vampirism unit available for free. Solid even without support if played right, and can be a huge threat after recieving some physical damage. Awesome unit, though vulnerable to mages.

Can be found in: 5* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 50.

Chimeras:

Chimera(4*, 1/2/6, Flying, Chaos Bolt)

Decent on Epic, much better on Legendary. good damage for 1cd unit, but hard to predict what type of damage will be used, also there is a chance to deal no damage at all because of Shadow Bolt, however he can also hit for 6 as well. Overall a good unit, but a bit unreliable.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Great Chimera(4*, 3/3/10, Flying, Chaos Bolt)

Probably best Chimera. Good damage and hp, but again its very hard to predict which bolt will be used.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Ancient Chimera(4*, 5/4/11, Flying, Chaos Bolt)

Epic is awful for such long cd and not a big improvement from above unit, however, much better on Godlike.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Gryffin(4*, 1/2/5, Iron Wings, Vigilance)

An ok to use Vigilance unit. Armour doesnt help much because he has too low hp to play in front line.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack. Also available as 3* Card Collection milestone reward for 15%.

Griffyn Iron Wing(4*, 2/2/8, Iron Wings, Vigilance, Enmity:Flying)

Much better than above unit due to Enmity:Flying, making him a very good defender versus other flying units, such as Pegasi and Tengus. A very good unit to have even outside of Beast-themed decks.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Griffyn Sky-Lord(4*, 5/4/8, Iron Wings, Vigilance, Enmity:Flying)

Also a very good defender due to higher damage, especially versus flying units. Very good, but even better at Godlike rarity.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Spellfire Chimera(4*, 3/2/10, Flying, Chaos Breath)

A neat aoe attacker. Still unpredictable and require a careful play, because it can damage friendly units as well, otherwise a very solid unit.

Can be found in: 4* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 42. Also available as 4* Card Collection milestone reward for 50%.

Nids:

Redstone Nid(4*, 1/2/5, Toss, Magical Surge 1)

A decent archer actually, but Magical Surge is definitely the reason because Nids should be played, providing a huge support to decks that relies on Skills. Overall, playable, but really good in numbers.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Skystone Nid(4*, 3/2/7, Toss, Magical Surge 2)

Very commonly seen in late game skill-based decks due to his ability. Its the best Nid for skill-based decks and it obtained huge popularity among players when another, very commonly used card named Pan that has nearly same purpose, was banned from game. Invaluable if you like skill decks and very good overall even outside of Beast-themed decks.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Etherstone Nid(4*, 5/3/9 Toss, Magical Surge 2)

On epic, doesnt worth taking, however also very commonly used in skill decks. Worth to play only on Legendary, because of Magical Surge 3.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack. Also available as 5* Card Collection milestone reward for 75%.

Unicorns:

Unicorn(4*, 2/1/3, Sprint, Inspired 3)

Extremely weak on every rank, but reason to play Unicorns is actually Inspired ability, making them very good when coupled with Nids. You play skills, Nids Magical Surge lowers cd of your cards, so, technically, its possible to make a cycle and spam a bunch of cards in single turn. Overall great to use just because of Inspired, but require some tactics to work properly. Its more like a free-draw unit actually because this ability let you to play more cards in turn beside playing Unicorns.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Unicorn Mirager(4*, 3/1/6, Sprint, Inspired 3)

Much better stats but still, its a free-draw unit, so its a good card to use. Probably the best unicorn stat-wise.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack. Also available as 4* Card Collection milestone reward for 30%.

Unicorn Tempest(4*,5/2/8, Sprint, Inspired 3)

High cd mean that this card cd will be lowered by Magical Surge with a high possibilty, so its not a big deal, however you can use this benefit for unit far better than Unicorn. Okay to use, but not that good if you have other, better 5+ cd units.

Can be found in: Beast Standard pack.

Combos and Advanced Mechanics for Beasts:

Warrior:

Encourage + Any Bat:

Pretty much a worthy trade-off, because Vampire Bats will be more efficient, and you can secure the poison hit by poison bats as well.

Command: Vigilance: + Any Poison Bat:

As long as units will not have armour, they will die after couple of hits from poison. Best coupled with some Lizards blocking the path.

Fiery Cerberus/Cerberus Hegemon/Storm Lizard King + Command:Heroic:

Pretty much devastating against every non-ranged unit.

Ranger:

Tactic: Sunder Armour + Poison Bat:

Again, a worthy trade-off considering Poison damage over time.

Tactic: Decay + Fiery Cerberus/Cerberus Hegemon/Storm Lizard King:

Also very devastating due to aoe damage.

Mage:

Scorch + Nids:

Actually works with any class, but really shines on Mage. Because of low cd and high Mastery and with some Nids on field its really possible to cycle around this skill if you have 2 of them in hand untill Mastery will work.

Priest:

Inspire/Zeal + Nids:

Not that impressive as Mage one, but with high enough Mastery its possible to cycle around this skills as well.

Note that this is a example deck for beginners! This deck can be good even with rares and below for early PvP, but this is just a quick-made example, hovewer im sure this deck will be good for Map Missions, Dark Forest and Shimmering Cave, just try to play Nids before Skills if possible. Also with good experience, later you can build your own, far better deck for sure!
