Diana Starfall

The legendary version adds the ability covering fire, which states "whenever any friendly creature deals melee damage, diana deals 2 ranged damage."
Does this work with Orin, who says "physical damage" and why doesn't this work on players?

Such great answer... Much helpful...
Of course I know what melee is. It's the sword icon for damage. Also, I had made a deck to see what Diana interacts with, and whirlwind (elke) and counterattack also trigger covering fire.
But I don't own Orin, and her ability description for stab says physical. I don't specify if it's melee damage.
And Diana doesn't say that she only hits creatures, which is why I ask about when you deal melee damage to a hero, why doesn't covering fire trigger?

Meele is a subset of physical. Like blonde people are subset of all the people. When you are attracted to blondes you dont mean every people. When you say melee you dont mean every physical.

Basically abblitys dont trigger her effect. Elk attack cant atttack 1 unit but all around her. its why dianna kicks in with her. Things like sensi (5 hits) Shuck (2 hits) will only trigger her effect once. Orin (Ability melee to player) wont trigger Dianna effect because its not caused by melee combat. She will only buff the original attack that is in Melee Range

Hope this helps

Meele is a subset of physical. Like blonde people are subset of all the people. When you are attracted to blondes you dont mean every people. When you say melee you dont mean every physical.

This really didnt help them Gavan. Please keep this kinda stuff to a minimal

Cyber its a card

well reaction on other stuff
the card is helpful since it does 2 extra damage when melee damage is dealt , when you deal damage to hero it seems to be not considered as melee damage thtas why the ability isn't working also if Calista attacks effect will only trigger once
(tbh i think the damage to hero is considered as direct life damage which is different counted than melee damage)
i hope this helps a bit
Patience is the key to victory !

i know that multi attacks like sylvi bladesoul only trigger the ability once.
i get that it wouldn't trigger off orin, i asked that because i don't own orin.

More importantly, why doesn't covering fire hit players?

Vengeance,

The ability states, as directly listed on card : "when allied creatures deal melee damage, this creature deals an additional 2 ranged damage."

Can you please help to clarify which portion of this ability description clearly states that it only hits enemy creatures?

Thank you.

Just a theory about it. Monsters have hp and they can take damage and heal. when creatures attack its in the form of melle. but for hero could it be a simple case where there is no damage base? Example regardless of what type of attack it is the damage just gets applied as direct damage. not mellee, holy ect. I unfortunately dont have the card so i cant check it out. But there is your possiblity.

But then again that can raise issues about the dragons boosting attack. so heros bane does 3 damage instead of 2 with kael. Unless buff is added cause type of attack then applied as direct. *Shruggs* Who knows.

Simple answer is that its probably a text error on the card and it should be creatures only

Honestly, I'm with Vengeance on this one (unusually). I don't remember, and we have no photo evidence, but I'm pretty sure it used to say that it only activated when damaging a creature. Obviously, that may not be true, because as we all know, memory is a curious thing.

edit: still no answer from anyone who actually knows why she doesn't hit players? Maybe a random dev or something could float by and solve this?

This makes me believe that the wording of Covering Fire would be read as "When an allied creature deals melee damage [to a creature], it deals an additional 2 ranged damage."
