A beginner guide to Savages

Note:

Some info in this guide may be quite inaccurate due to lack of information. Just let me know if anything is wrong, and i

will try to correct the guide appropriately.

If you have a luck and you get some cards that didn't mentioned here, please give me a confirmation screenie and i will

add the card to guide.

In this guide i will try to review all Savage units and some gameplay possibilities as well. They may seem totally useless

on first glance, however they not that bad for your everyday Dungeon or map Missions. For sure there is a better units

available, but we consider only Savage units that can be obtained for free.

Synthesis units is not included yet, need some experience, and they probably will be in separate guide.

Savages are divided into Goblins and Ogres actually, however they all posess synergy and i count them rather as a single

race.

Advantages:

Mostly low cd units.

Has lots of creatures and walls that improve stats.

Higher cd units can both tank and deal huge amount of damage.

Has a good late-game Synthesis units.

Has a unique tactical options.

Lots of free rewards from collection.

Disadvantages:

Relies heavily on particular units, otherwise weak.

Lack of abilities in v 1.0 creatures.

No free-obtainable vigilance units to protect themselves.

Reputation shop contains mostly weak units.

Vocabulary:

Hit and run: Moves backwards after attacking.

Counterattack: When this creature is attacked by a creature in range, it will retaliate.

Toxic Blade N: Damaged creatures will take N Shadow damage at the end of their turn for 5 turns.

Shortbow: +2 Range. Archer.

Attack N: XX: All other friendly XX gain +N Attack.

Charm: Controls a random enemy creature within range for 1 turn.

Cleave: Attacks all enemy creatures and heros in a 1x3 area.

Savage Warlord: For each friendly Goblin or Ogre on the battlefield, it gains +1 Attack and +3 Life.

Savage League: Countdown Ability. For every other 2 Goblin or Ogre creature cards in hand, this card's countdown is

reduced by 1 each turn. Immune to the effect of Inspiration, Distraction, and placing this card from the hand into the

graveyard.

Weakened: Cannot attack.

Explosive N: Upon dying, deals (4xN) Fire damage to all adjacent creatures and heroes.

Wall: Cannot move or attack.

Net: Range +3. Damaged creatures are pulled to the front of the attacking creature. Damaged creatures are unable to move

for 1 turn. Archer

Sniper: Attacks the enemy creature or hero with lowest Life within range.

Ember: +2 Range. Damaged creatures will take 1 Fire damage at the end of their next turn.

Vengeance N: Upon dying, deals N shadow damage to the enemy creature that killed it.

Iron Net: Range +3. Damaged creatures are pulled to the front of the attacking creature. Damaged creatures have a 25%

chance of being unable to act and 75% chance of being unable to move for 1 turn. Archer.

Regeneration N: Restores N Life each turn.

Rage N: Whenever this creature takes damage, it gains +N Attack.

Stun: Damaged creatures have a 50% chance of being unable to act for 1 turn.

Life N: XX: All other friendly XX gain +N Life.

Heroic N: When this creature deals damage, it gains +N Attack.

Dreadmaul: Damaged creatures have a 25% chance of being unable to act for 2 turns.

First strike: Will strike first if attacked by any creature in range.

Dumb: -1 movement, -1 range.

Troll Skin N: When this creature takes Physical damage it gains ability Armor N for 1 turn; when this creature takes Magic

damage it gains ability Resistance N for 1 turn.

Thick-Headed: If this creature takes lethal damage, it will finish its own turn before dying.

Desperate Strength: When this creature takes damage, Attack will increase by the amount lost; if creature is healed,

Attack will decrease by amount of Life gained.

Thick Skinned: Reduce damage by half.

Goblins:

Goblin Rogue(4*, 1/2/10)

A basic goblin unit. In comparison to other similar epic units, has above average hp, but lack of abilities doesnt worth

using him.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 1* in reputation shop on

level 7.

Goblin Bandit(4*, 2/2/13)

Slightly higher hp and damage, but still not worth to use due to lack of abilities.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Goblin Scoundrel(4*, 3/3/12, Hit and run)

A decent, playable unit for beginners. Its better than above units because he will retreat after hit, so if played after

some tanky creature, he will rush forward, hit the target and move behind your tank, making it harder to hit directly by

melee.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Goblin Mobster(4*, 2/3/10)

Pretty much equal to Goblin Bandit, but less hp and more damage. Not worth to use due to lack of abilities.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 1* in reputation shop on

level 7 and as a 3* Card Collection milestone reward for 15%.

Goblin Bully(4*, 2/3/4, Counterattack)

Not worth taking because of his low HP. Counterattack is good on high hp units, but unfortunately this is not the case.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 2* in reputation shop on

level 14.

Goblin Outlaw(4*,3/1/13, Counterattack, Toxic Blade 1)

Decent, playable unit for beginners. Low damage, making him vulnerable to armour, but can easily dispatch a lot of

enemies. Even if he dead, poison keep working. Works better if buffed by hero.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 3* in reputation shop on

level 21.

Goblin Bowman(4*, 1/2/9, Shortbow)

A good starter unit to place behind some tank. Good amount of HP in comparison with elven archers of the same rarity. Just

place him behind someone else and he will hit closest enemy in range with his bow.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Goblin Poacher(4*, 2/2/12, Shortbow)

Also a good starter unit. Due to high hp can be used as decent emergency tank, if you dont have other cards to defend

yourself.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 2* in reputation shop on

level 14 and as a 4* Card Collection milestone reward for 30%.

Goblin Poison Archer(4*, 5/3/13, Shortbow, Toxic blade 1)

Good unit, but too high cd. Same as with Outlaw, more effective versus a bunch of low hp enemies due to poison.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 3* in reputation shop on

level 21 and as a 5* Card Collection milestone reward for 75%

Raid Captain Gubba(4*, 4/2/8, Hit and Run, Attack 1: Savage)

Gubba is essential unit for Savages. When he enter battlefield, all Savages gain +1 damage, rising the efficiency of every

particular Goblin. Just spawn him as far as possible from opponent side, preferrably behind a barrage of own units to

avoid Gubba early death.

Can be found in: Obtainable in Soul Summoner as 4*-6*(locked version), 4* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 28

and as a Card Collection milestone reward for 50%, 5* is a reward for achieving a 45 level of Goblin reputation.

Goblin Adonis(5*, 5/2/10, Shortbow, Charm)

This guy is by far the best v1.0 goblin unit. He charms creature in own range, so it will be under your control for a

single turn. Due to this and with some protection in front can be very annoying. Pretty awesome unit to have even outside

of Savage themed deck.

Can be found in: Obtainable in Soul Summoner as 5*-6*(locked version), also a very rare drop from hard Shimmering Cave

dungeon.

Warlord Graz'nak(5*, 7/2/12, Cleave, Savage Warlord, Savage League)

Graz'nak is a nice, however very race-themed card, so he shines in themed deck when you already have some Savages on

battlefield. Even alone he is pretty decent unit, but he really benefit from amount of Savages played, increasing his

damage and hp by a huge amount. Good addition to Savage-themed deck, however due to low popularity of Savages rarely seen

in action.

Can be found in: 5* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 50.

Black Market Caravan(4*, 3/0/5, Weakened, Explosive 2)

Unique wall that is fun to play, but requires a very careful use. Overall, a good beginner-level alternative to removal

skills, but not that good outside of map missions and dungeons. Try not to harm own or teammates units when using this!

Can be found in: Drop from hard Shimmering Cave dungeon, also 3* can be obtained in reputation shop on level 28.

Treasure Chest(4*, 4/0/12, Wall, Attack 1:Goblins)

Another unique wall, essential for Goblin part of Savages. Works pretty much like Gubba, boosting attack of all your

Goblins.

Can be found in: 4* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 35.

Pixies:

Pixie Keeper(4*, 2/3/4, Net)

A decent archer. Comparable to Elves Archers, she has bigger hp, but still vulnerable to skills and other ranged damage

creatures. Unlike a Goblin archer, she pull the target to the front of herself and require a protection because of that,

so place her behind a tank and she will be safe.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack. Also available as 3* Card Collection milestone reward for 15%.

Pixie Marshall(4*, 3/3/5, Net, Sniper)

Good ranged unit. Much more interesting than Pixie Keeper, however still low hp. Due to Sniper, this pixie pull weakest

unit in range to the front, opening some good tactic possibilities. However, still require a protection.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack.

Pixie Warden(4*, 4/3/6, Net, Sniper, Hit and Run)

Another good unit. Still, low hp as for 4 cd unit making her very vulnerable to skills, but otherwise she is fairly safe

from most of threats due to Hit and Run ability. Good abilities, but require some support.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack.

Pixie Adept(4*, 1/1/5, Ember, Vengeance 6)

A decent magic attacker. She actually deal 1 more damage because of Ember. Low hp and vulnerable to skill removals, but

she can be used as a suicidal unit. Due to Vengeance, she capable to kill or severely harm other 1-2cd units on death, but

it doesnt work for skills. Overall, should be used tactically.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack.

Pixie Magi(4*, 3/2/9, Ember, Vengeance 6)

Actually, pretty good damage and hp, making her overall better than above unit. Probably the best Pixie mage.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack. Also available as 4* Card Collection milestone reward for 30%.

Pixie Grand Magi(4*, 6/4/10, Ember, Vengence 6)

Doesnt worth 6 cd. Pixie Magi is much better, and has same abilities.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack. Also available as 5* Card Collection milestone reward for 75%.

Chief Warden Ariella(4*, 5/4/12, Iron Net, Hit and Run)

A great unit to have! Much better hp than other net pixies and extra chance to stun coupled with hit and run makes her

very good even outside of Savage themed deck.

Can be found in: 4* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 42. Also available as 4* Card Collection milestone reward

for 50%.

Ogres:

Ogre(4*, 4/4/14)

Same as with Goblins, 4cd units without any abilities at all is not good.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 1* in reputation shop on

level 7 and 3* is Card Collection milestone reward for 15%

Senior Ogre(4*, 1/1/7, Regeneration 2)

A nice and cheap blocker of other 1cd creatures. Regeneration helps to endure more damage, and with some support it can

hold the line for a long time.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Ogre Ringleader(4*, 3/2/14, Regeneration 1)

Decent blocker, higher stats but lower regen than above unit.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Ogre Warrior(4*, 3/3/14)

Not worth using. Slightly higher damage than Ogre Ringleader, same stats, no abilities. Better pick Ogre Ringleader

instead.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Ogre Berserker(4*, 4/2/10, Rage 2)

Good unit. A bit low hp as for 4cd unit, but with some support from hero it can achieve high amounts of damage.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 2* in reputation shop on

level 14. 4* is Card Collection milestone reward for 30%

Ogre Bloodrager(4*, 6/4/13, Rage 1)

Definitely not worth 6 cd. 6cd is a king-like, so the unit will be useless most of the time and it doesnt have anything

worthy 6 cd.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Ogre Hercules(4*, 3/2/17)

Not good. Can be used as a blocker, but has no abilities, making him much less useful for 3cd.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Colossal Ogre Hercules(4*, 2/3/7, Stun)

Stun is good, but due to his low hp as for 2cd unit can be used only behind a tank unit. Too situational, but playable.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack.

Ogre Hercules Ringleader(4*, 4/4/11, Stun)

A very good blocker. With some support can hold the line for a very long time, stunning melee enemies and dealing good

damage. One of the best 1.0 Ogre units.

Can be found in: Novice pack, Standard pack, Epic Pack, Savage Standard pack. Also available as 3* in reputation shop on

level 21. 5* is Card Collection milestone reward for 75%

Chief Sharptooth(4*, 6/1/13, Life 3: Savages, Regeneration 2)

Another essential unit for Savages. Chief Sharptooth alone is quite mediocre unit, but the impact of his life buff for

your army will be noticeable. But same as with Gubba, try to place him as far as possible from danger.

Can be found in: Obtainable in Soul Summoner as 4*-6*(locked version), 4* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 28

and as a Card Collection milestone reward for 50%, 5* is a reward for achieving a 45 level of Goblin reputation.

Boss Ragnar(5*, 8/3/25, Regeneration 2, Heroic 1, Rage 1)

If played right, can be very dangerous. Can easily achieve monstrous amount of damage and very hard to kill, especially if

buffed. Very good unit, and easily one of the best Ogre units obtainable for free.

Can be found in: Obtainable in Soul Summoner as 5*-6*(locked version), also a very rare drop from hard Sanguine Tribe

dungeon.

Krusha'(5*,6/4/11, Dreadmaul, First Strike)

A good unit, but rarely seen in play due to his low hp and high cd. First strike makes him fairly safe from melee units,

but he is very vulnerable to skills and archers. Other than that, a good creature to have in collection.

Can be found in: 5* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 50.

Ogre Bone Heap(4*, 6/0/16, Wall, Attack 1: Ogres)

Essential wall for Savages. A Ogre counterpart for Treasure Chest. High cd, but its only playable Ogre wall.

I will not list other Ogre walls, because they just doesnt worth playing at all because they all inferior to units.

Trolls:

Troll(2/2/15, Dumb)

Can be used as a slow walking wall due to high hp, but not a good pick due to lack of abilities.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack. Also available as 3* Card Collection milestone reward for 15%.

Forest Troll(4*,2/1/9, Dumb, Troll Skin 4, Rage 1)

A solid front-line tank, if played against single damage type(either Physical or Magic, but not both). But in order to be

able to sustain a damage, he required to get hit first, and due to rage and with some support can be very dangerous.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack.

Mountain Troll(4*, 5/2/14, Dumb, Troll Skin 4, Rage 2)

Another solid tank, but less impressing due to high cd. Rage 2 and High hp will improve his damage possibilities

drastically.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack.

Furious Troll(4*, 1/2/9, Thick-headed)

Usually commonly used by players as skill bait in dungeon runs placing him in the very top lane. Also works well as a

one-time blocker, because he will survive extra turn no matter what. However, decent to use anywhere else.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack.

Frenzied Troll(4*, 3/1/7, Thick-Headed, Desperate Strength)

Probably the best thick-headed troll. Due to combination of Desperate Strength and Thick-Headed able to deal a heavy final

blow before death. Useful to harm enemies with damage that would kill any other unit.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack. Also available as 4* Card Collection milestone reward for 30%.

Rampaging Troll(4*,5/1/9, Thick-Headed, Desperate Strength)

Too high cd for a suicidal unit, however he can kill or severely damage most of other units before death. Okay to use, but

not that good as Frenzied Troll.

Can be found in: Savage Standard pack. Also available as 5* Card Collection milestone reward for 75%.

Smasha'Rulk(3/2/13, Dumb, Thick Skinned, Rage 1)

Easily one of the best in-game tank units obtainable for free! This guy is incredibly durable due to Thick Skinned, and

Rage make him a huge threat hard to remove. Definitely worth to have.

Can be found in: 4* can be obtained in reputation Shop on level 42. Also available as 4* Card Collection milestone reward

for 50%.

Combos and Advanced Mechanics for Savages:

Warrior:

Command: Martyr + Thick-Headed

Wierd, but very effective way to protect some valuable units for 1 turn on demand.

Command: Counterattack + Rage

This combo drastically improve damage possibilities for Rage units. Works especially deadly on Boss Ragnar.

Goblin Outlaw + Encourage/Command: Heroic

Extra damage makes this unit really dangerous due to counterattack.

Ranger:

Tactic: Decay/Tactic: Sunder armour + any ranged unit.

Pretty much deadly, especially good with Net Pixies. Works on melee as well, but ranged units usually live longer.

Disturbance can be used as substitute to Vigilance units if played correctly. just put the unit after your enemy unit and

Change the units position via Disturbance.

Priest:

Blessing: Regenerate + Troll Skin/Thick skinned

Extra hp regen make Forest Troll or Smasha'Rulk even more durable!

Life 3: Savages/Blessing:Life + Desperate Strength

More life mean more potential damage. So stacking a lot of Life blessings on Frenzied Troll is not a bad idea actually if

you need extra damage more than health for your Priest. Also works well with Chieftain Sharptooth buff.

Mage:

Hermes Wings + Black Market Caravan

Pretty obvious combo often used by second stage boss in Shimmering cave.

Petrify should be carefully used with Trolls in deck when used on own units. They all have -1 range, so often better to

petrify Troll, otherwise your own petrified unit in front of Troll makes him unable to attack.

Example of Savage-themed deck:

Goblin Scoundrel x2

Goblin Outlaw x2

Raid Captain Gubba x1

Ogre Hercules Ringleader x2

Chief Sharptooth x1

Pixie Magi x2

Pixie Marshall x2

Forest Troll x2

Class cards:

Warrior:

Slash x2

Encourage x2

Command: Vigilance x2

Ranger:

True Shot x2

Tactic: Decay x2

Disturbance x2

Mage:

Fireball x3

Petrify x3

Priest:

Smite x3

Blessing: Armour x2

Blessing: Life x1

Note that this is a example deck for beginners! Savages is not suited for PvP, so this deck is rather for fun use in Map

Missions, Dark Forest and Shimmering Cave only. Also with good experience, later you can build your own, far better deck

for sure!

Also, Savages lacks free vigilance units, so this deck is best suited for Warriors and Rangers, who reliably can cover

this disadvantage. As for Mage and Priest, only way to deal with enemy units when playing Savages is damage skills, making

them not a good, but playable choice.

Thats because i have asked already in another thread about what elites can be obtained in packs, and got no answer. I just need to be sure that particular pack drop the elite. As for WB, i as beginner never got any rewards from it yet, and its rather non-reliable, because required a good deck and team)))

I dont include any event/AH ones, as well as booster bonanza units just because its non-reliable as well. Also they much harder to enchance, so it can be for sure considered, but by free cards i mean ones that can be obtained via silver.

Really not sure about that, because never seen that someone get Desperate Soul or Cain The Traitor from Undead pack for example, hovewer i know that Prince Serka can be gained( i got one from pack). So, Im not sure unless i will get it on my own or will see screenie, because many units like Human Wind-Dancer Elke or Lucius Swift i got from unit fusion and never seen them dropped. However i personally got a Yumi the Swiftshot and Mifzuna the Wind via packs in the past while playing RoM.

However, i still dont have anything currently)))

The reason Bonanza units not included is just because they are temporary, and considering how rare guides is writing, my guide may be outdated as well later. Also i generally dislike idea to write a strategy around cards that other may not have. Of course for example Wisdom Juju or Goblin Engineers is very good for Savage deck, but it just not quite good for guide to mention units that can be hard to get.

Maybe will mention all this units in some separate topic, but only if i will be able to obtain or test them by myself)))

juju was given out in a past event of beating cave with certain cards on the field and the engineer cards r more common in leg wb boxes and i should rephrase any cus they did chose to move certain cards from standard packs to other packs or in fuse but i have seen the epic elites in wb boxes just rarely and the rarest savages currently is fauna and gorbone(until his bonanza starts) most others have been in events that was free to do or in ah and a few was in free card events or login event they once gave a free gl searing cernd in login

Damn, wish i get the possibility to get Juju too)))

Unfortunately, on s17 AH is rarely seen any good units, mostly V&V ones and some other good units, but for massive price. I just need to get at least some decently good units for my own deck, before i start to loot collectibles via AH.

Considering how much units others have, it will be a long and painful way)))

Really, i like to see a whole lot of new units, but unfortunately a really good units cost above 1000, so it require a lot of work to do.

Tarots and V&V units is really looks impressive, however i doubt that i get any of them, because they very rarely seen and price is sky high even for decent ones like Sloth.

Currently im sitting on lvl 28 so far, and im unfortunately not a good pick for WB hunt for units yet)))

If Incarnates will be reliably obtainable through WB, ill mention them as well for sure in separate guide, as well as if i get some decent units for affordable price from AH or events.

Also currently working for similar Beast guide as well)))
